Engawa House – Modern Minimalist Long House in Wooden Material

Engawa House – Modern Minimalist Long House

Engawa is a traditional Japanese design element that means wooden strip of flooring immediately before windows and storm shutters inside traditional Japanese rooms. Recently this term has also come to mean the veranda outside of the room as well. This term is the basic of this long rectangular house. Actually the house is like a porch when the 16 meters glass panel sliding doors open up that whole side of the house. On the other side, there is a curtain for privacy. This modern compact house has wooden storage cabinets in the back of the stainless steel kitchen area. There is no boundary in this house. A bedroom, a bathroom in crisp white, small study room, kitchen/dining area and living room, they are all connected. Designed by Tezuka Architects, this modern minimalist house has 74.48 sq. meters with wood material in finishing.
