This house built on a unique site, which is client’s small property. Located one hour drive from Adelaide, the site is actually a deep waterhole bounded by a high rocky bank. In order to preserve the beautiful existing of the site, the house is designed in narrow form, across the winter creek, just like a bridge above it.
Max Pritchard Architect designed this 110m2 house with two steel trusses as the main structure. Fabricated off site, those trusses were anchored by four small concrete piers, poured each side of the creek. The steel deck has a rigid insulation layer, and a concrete floor slab above it. The house is blend to the nature with light impact to its surroundings. Living in this bridge house is comfortable enough because the application of environmentally sustainable design yet the choice of material make the low budget house.
