The Exploded House is in Bodrum, Turkey which was designed by Global Architectural Development. Bodrum is a Mediterranean port-trade settlement in the Southwest of Turkey. Due to the restriction of outdated codes which stated that new forms of architecture are unpermitted to be introduced to the landscape, GAD created a house made from three separate buildings. This solving problem creates a more flexible building type. Each individual unit, which complies with the regulatory size of 75 square meters, is built next to one another with a narrow space in between and is linked by a glass atrium. Each building has a separate function: a master bedroom and bathroom; a kitchen and dining room; and a guesthouse with an adjacent study room.
The house was designed to be natural and boasts the sustainability design features. This house has open-plan space of the main house. It makes the house becomes light and airy. Beside the sea breezes that flooded the interiors, the house also offers the beautiful vistas of the stunning landscape and bay. The interior is a successful integration between valuable collection pieces to the daily life without loosing the functionality, thanks to interior designer Hakan Ezer.
