This house was designed with consideration of restrictions laws where the building should not exceed two floors. So, there is an underground floor to accommodate the caretaker’s quarters and the atelier. These areas are open onto wonderful small lawns.
This Sumar House was designed by Isay Weinfeld Architects for a graphic designer in Sao Paulo. The spacious house comprises an atelier, a swimming pool and a space for ballet routines, along with ample entertaining areas, two bedrooms and all other rooms.
The semi private areas are placed above the underground, a few steps above street level. This floor accommodates the sitting and dining rooms, the kitchen and a larger lawn, and the living room with long shelving displays the owner’s collection, ranging from works of art to design and vintage objects.
Up from this floor, there are the bedrooms and the facilities for physical exercising: ballet and swimming. The bedrooms are enclosed only by a screen of pre-cast concrete blocks, through which you are able to see the city skyline far away. Last but not least, on the top floor there is a wood-decked outdoors entertaining area, perfect for a get together, by day or by night.
