Luxuries Design of Dakar Sow House by SAOTA, in Collaboration with Antoni Associates

Luxuries Design of Dakar Sow House by SAOTA, in Collaboration with Antoni Associates

Dakar Sow House rose on a cliff just above the immense stretch of water, captured between two changing shades of blue – the sky and the Atlantic Ocean. The constructed areas reached a surface of 1,402 square meters. The result of collaboration between the architects of SAOTA (Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects) and Antoni Associates as interior decorators was the modern house. It had to be designed in a way that encompassed all the family’s needs because the house was inhabited by a Senegalese businessman and his young family. The house design featured a long hallway crossing the house from the study area – built as a separate volume – to the kitchen, with all the other rooms extending from it to offer the best floor plan possible for enjoying extensive panoramic views. There were a gaming/family room, a large lounge, a kitchen, barbecue terrace and pool terrace, as well as guest room adjacent to the private gym and reflecting pond. the arrangement on the site and the house’s location on the edge of a cliff, which included keeping part of an old World War Two bunker and transforming it into an underground cinema, connected to the house with a spiral staircase was another interesting thing.

Citriodora, Tree House Design in Australia by Seeley Architects

Citriodora, Tree House Design in Australia by Seeley Architects

Seeley Architects designed Citriodora House, which was located near Great Ocean Road in Anglesea, Australia. Integrated within lush Lemon scented gums, the name of tree house was derived from the botanical term used to define these beautiful trees. Inspired by the affects of the coastal winds, mimicking the shape of the wind pruned coastal vegetation, the form of the roof gently rolled. The house design had both simplicity and complexity with large negative spaces offering views to the sky, battened screens proving visual privacy to the neighbours and two massive concrete walls forming a prehistoric spine through the middle. For the interior that mediated the diurnal temperature variations within the house, a thermal heat soaked. Capturing coastal views and connections into the treetops, the layout of the house was centered around a raised east facing living platform. The contemporary house was reminded as an adult’s tree house.
