The Margarido House which will be LEED-H Platinum certified and GreenPoint Rated is 55 percent more energy efficient than California’s Title 24 energy standards. This house was designed with the consideration of green building components application. Those components are eco-friendly Western Red Cedar siding, a planted green roof garden and deck, on-site rain and ground water reclamation, in-floor hydronic heating, and solar electric and solar thermal (hot water) systems.

The Japanese architecture is brave and unique. You will never imagine living in this weird but wonderful Pyramid House. This modern house is set in a meter of pit, surrounded by planted lush landscape to provide privacy to the concrete main floor. This floor is sunk but still flooded with natural light through the ribbon windows on all four sides. This space accommodates communal activities such as living, kitchen and dining areas. At the center of this space, there is a rustic wooden stairway will take the users to the second floor that is designed in minimalist style. In this floor, a simple bathroom and master bedroom with walkout terrace are placed. Up to the next level through the steel staircase, the children’s rooms are located where the walls ascend and converge at the same time to meet at the skylight. This modern pit dwelling is supported by four inclined black steel V plates were placed at each corner of the ground floor.
