The challenging of this house design is small lot. Maximizing the use of courtyard or exterior, capturing the outdoor space is so important. This causes unusually placing of the living room and kitchen. The living room and kitchen are placed in the third floor and finished by a large rooftop terrace overlooking Lake Washington’s ship canal and the Puget Sound. There are glass doors, which open the kitchen out to a large balcony. A staircase leads up from here to a rooftop terrace. Bedrooms are in the first floor, while on the ground level, there are a utility room, office and garage.
